FAQ

How long has Q Theatre been running for?

Q Theatre has been running since 1963. The company moved to Penrith in 1977, over 40 years ago. Read more about the Q Story here.

Do you hire actors?

Yes, we hold auditions from time to time for productions and development projects. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and this website for details.

Where are your shows performed?

It depends.

Many of our performances take place in the Allan Mullins Studio, however The Ugliest Duckling requires a bigger stage so it will be performed in the Q Theatre. Our Long Table Gatherings will happen in the Atrium Foyer; and you never know – you might even see us outside or in unexpected places in the future.

Some of our shows are available as touring productions too.

I want to learn drama - do you teach it?

We most certainly do. Our Studio Q theatre training program runs term-based courses for young artists aged 5 – 18. Read more about Studio Q here.

How can I get involved?

There are many ways to get involved: join a Studio Q class (if you’re aged 5 – 18), keep an eye out for our Originate Young Artists Project, there is an audition callout coming later in 2019, we expect the Southlands Breakthrough Award to be open again in 2019; and there will be a Q Lab callout later in the year. Keep your eyes open for Q Indie opportunities too.

You can also come along to see one of our 2019 Productions, check the What’s On for details; and join us at our free Long Table Gatherings between March and May.

You’re always welcome to come and say hi, check out what we’re up to, and have a chat.
